Day 2 of the Crossfit Comp saw the sorting of ‘wheat from chaff’ of the competitors. The girls had made it into the intermediate category and whilst sporting a few lines of roctape they were raring to go!
The WODs were designed to cull the groups down to the top 10 in beginners and intermediates. Then the top 5 in the elite category.
Overall the girls smashed it coming in at 4th and 5th out of the top 10 intermediate females group. It was really inspiring to go and watch the comp, it’s given me something to aim for. I have a whole heap of work to do to even be able to get into the beginners category as I don’t have a lot of crossfit movements down pat. Anything gymnastic I struggle with but I keep trying and it’s a very slow race (like ultra slow). I love my weights and felt my hands twitching to pick up a bar in WOD 1 and 2 because I love thrusters and sumo deadlifts – weird I know. I’m not a fan of burpees and I can’t do much other than a mini kip on the pull-up structure but it’s something I want to achieve.
The other really cool thing was the sense of team spirit with a group of crossfit babes from our box coming down to cheer the girls on. Our coaches Rev and Clay were there too and were super proud. In fact one of the other boxes commented that the Crossfit Babes Miami army was growing and we’re showing up at everything.
